NO, CAJC is a completely FREE Residential Academy created exclusive for graduates of the California Youth ChalleNGe Academies (Grizzly, Sunburst, and Discovery). 

YES, Applicants MUST meet the minimum age requirements between 17 ½ to 20 years of age (applicant MUST be 17 ½ by scheduled Intake Day. Applicants can turn 21 while in the program).

Scholars will reside for up to 5 ½ months (11 weeks for CNA Scholars) in the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base. 

*Housing will consist of OPEN BAY Barracks style living quarters. NO DORMS!

Scholars in the Automotive, Pre-Apprenticeship and Welding Pathways will be enrolled and attend Long Beach City College (LBCC).

Scholars in the Certified Nurses Assistant Course are enrolled with The Nurses Development Center.

YES, CAJC Scholars receive College Credit in their pathways except for CNA. 

YES, applicants need a High School Diploma or equivalent to attend CAJC, but we do offer the opportunity to attend and earn your High School Diploma while you concurrently attend College Courses. 

NO, Scholars will NOT be allowed to switch courses during the cycle. 

NO, CAJC will NOT guarantee any Scholar or Graduate employment. CAJC can guarantee that it will utilize every resource available to facilitate employment for the Scholar. CAJC partners provide employment seeking training to the Scholars throughout the cycle to ensure employment seeking readiness to ALL Scholars.

 NO, CAJC Scholars are NOT payed or provided a wage while attending CAJC.

NO, CAJC will NOT “give” drivers licenses to Scholars while they attend the Academy. CAJC will provide drivers training, resources,  and coordinate DMV appointments for written and behind the wheel tests. 

Privileges and Academy Procedures are subject to change every cycle. Not all cycles will be conducted the exact same way as the previous.
